Recapping SPC End of Summer Demo Faire 2024

On September 18th, 2024, 11 SPC companies thrilled us with their latest demos in front of a packed audience of top investors and engineers.

In case you’re not familiar with SPC’s Demo Faire, we have one strict rule: all presentations must feature live demos (show, not just tell).

These presenters went above and beyond, from a lightning fast events planning sidekick, to implementing regenerative agriculture practices using AI, to an appearance from a live robot designed for dangerous tasks – check out the demos below!

Goodfire AI

Ever wondered why an LLM just said that? Eric Ho at Goodfire let the audience become AI brain surgeons with their interpretability product, available soon as a research preview. They are working on interpretability tooling for safe and reliable generative AI models.

Unit 21

Off the record, one of SPC's earliest members Trisha Kothari and her teammate Dhiraj Bhat gave us a peak at the Consortium at Unit 21, a network-based data sharing platform to help companies collaborate in the fight against fraud.

June

Using June, their events design sidekick, Founder Fellows Irfan Manji and Paul Crouther showed us how event planners can design 10 times faster while they're collaborating with the $8 billion party rentals industry.

Deep Cogito

Also off the record, Deep Cogito is building more powerful language models without more data and more compute. Founder Fellows Drishan Arora and Dhruv Malhotra showed the audience how they are pioneering frontier intelligence LLMs.

Alpaca Health

At Alpaca Health, Founder Fellows Michael Gao and Bao Van are eliminating an enormous amount of hassle and paperwork that keeps clinicians from delivering care at Autism care clinics through their AI operating system. They are allowing clinicians to focus on their clients, not taking notes.

Rooted Agriculture

Founder Fellows Rhys Algar and Dakota Welch showcased Rooted Agriculture, a co-pilot that helps farms implement regenerative agricultural practices (where there's $140 billion in potential profit!) Rooted Ag does the legwork to build and run a regenerative operation, so the farms don't have to.

CodeYam

Looking for a software superpower? Nadia Eldeib showed off the world's first true software simulator. CodeYam accelerates software development by using software simulation to make it easy to understand, test, and review code changes in real time.

Granola

Building games should be as fun as playing them! Using Granola's game testing platform Playtesting.gg, Idan Beck is helping everyone become developers with an end-to-end game development, testing, and distribution platform.

Adjoint

The first step to designing a new two-stage rocket? Napkin math. Founder Fellows & former JPL engineers Bryson Jones and Guglielmo Daddi are making hardware design much easier and ten times more productive with intelligent software on Adjoint.

Under Control Robotics

The Under Control Robotics team of Founder Fellows (Wei Ding, Wenlong Ma, Chris McQuin, & Wenda Wang) brought the house down with their demo of a walking humanoid robot, revealing an early version of their general purpose robotics platform for dangerous tasks. This robot doesn't skip leg day!

But wait, that's only ten teams! That's the thing about live demos—sometimes the only way to see them is live.
