Recapping SPC Demo Faire March 2023

SPC Demo Faire is one of our favorite ways to celebrate the journey from ideation to execution, showcasing everything from current members' hacking projects to new products from companies at Series A, B, and beyond.

Last week's Q1 2023 Demo Faire was a special one—it was the first time we've hosted a hybrid in-person/virtual demo event with the full SPC community. Members and guests gathered in our San Francisco community space and virtually from around the world to see 11 demos from current members and alumni. Check out the video recap and summaries below for a glimpse of what the incredible members of the SPC community are building. Some demos were off-the-record, so if you want to see everything you'll have to join Demo Faire live next time!

Don't miss the individual demos below!

Socket

SPC alum Feross kicked things off with Socket, a tool that helps developers understand the risks associated with installing new packages for their projects. Offering features such as real-time alerts for potential risks during installation and detection of typo squatting issues, Socket helps developers confidently navigate the challenges of package installations and keep their projects secure.

Eureka Health

Zain, a graduate of the first Founder Fellowhip cohort along with co-founder Noah, showed us Eureka Health, a platform designed to help patients with chronic diseases discover new treatments and determine their effectiveness. Focusing initially on Long Covid, Eureka Health gathers valuable information from patient communities on platforms like Reddit and Twitter, analyzing treatment experiences and outcomes. By aggregating data from thousands of posts, the platform offers insights on treatments that have worked for others with similar symptoms, creating a comprehensive database addressing too-often neglected chronic diseases.

Abbey

Alumni Arvil and co-founder Jeff gave us a demo of Abbey, a simple yet powerful way to automate and secure data access with code. If you'd like to learn more, visit abbey.so.

Junior

Founder Fellows Dimitris and Nico gave us a glimpse of Junior, copilot for professional services. This one is still under wraps, but you can reach out to the founders to learn more!

Helios

William brought the WAGMI spirit (in a more existential sense) with Helios, a next-gen web3 platform designed to simplify investing in solar projects globally. There are thousands of profitable, high-impact solar installations that remain unfunded due to the limitations of traditional finance and banking infrastructure. Helios bridges the gap by connecting crypto liquidity to solar projects, offering shorter lockup periods and lower minimum investments compared to traditional solar investments.

Legalese

Current members Bryan and Bryant introduced Legalese, an AI-powered tax Q&A system designed to help users navigate massive amounts of legal documents and obtain answers to tax-related questions. The demo showcased Legalese's ability to provide an answer to a tax question, cite its sources, and offer relevant portions of documents for further examination.

Meshi

Alumni Omar and Ker Lee showed off Meshi, an expressive AI companion that responds to user input with corresponding animations and emotions. The AI companion's expressions and animations are driven by machine learning, based on the text it generates in response to the user. The project is in early stages, and the team is open to feedback and suggestions for further development. Users can try it out at meshi.fun.

Riffusion

Seth wowed the audience with Riffusion, an AI-generated music platform. It was awesome. That's all we can say. If you want to learn more, reach out.

Plato

Alum Michael demo'd Plato, the Airtable for SQL data. Plato offers an admin console for business operations on back-office data, enabling users to create custom views, sort and filter data, and perform joins by expanding foreign keys. Michael aims to empower operators to build their own software within a safe sandbox without needing extensive technical knowledge. The platform is free to use, and the team welcomes feedback and suggestions.

Orb

Alum and Founder Fellowship graduate Alvaro finished things up with Orb, the modern pricing platform designed for companies with hybrid or usage-focused pricing models. Orb can be particularly relevant for AI products with token-based monetization and cost structures. Alvaro showed how Orb offers a flexible interface for creating billable metrics, a plan builder for various pricing models, and real-time billing processes for customer transparency. Visit Orb's website to explore their interactive sandbox!

We hope you've enjoyed these demos as much as we did. Stay tuned for word on our next SPC Demo Faire! And if you're in the -1 to 0 stage and interested in SPC membership, apply with the application below.
